Overview
A patient lift can help trained caregivers provide care for their patients, without
strain and injury. Regardless of their training in patient transfers,
it is know that the one of most serious heath problems of healthcare workers
is Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSIs) caused by the strain and exertion of
patient transfers and repositioning.
|
This zero-injury
lifting program for facilities is called "S.L.i.M. -- Safe Lifting is
Mandatory" and is designed to support and institute injury prevention.
S.L.i.M. is a comprehensive
program that provides three essential ingredients to promote healthcare
provider injury prevention:
|
 |
-
Patient Assessment - objective
statistical data to determine the types of lifts and numbers of lifts
needed, based exclusively on your residents/patients.
-
Ergonomic Lifts – lifting equipment
must be designed from an ergonomic perspective that considers safety for
both the resident/patient and nursing staff.
-
Managed Program - as with any managed
care program it is essential to have the staff in place to manage the
program and the support/training for the program.
As your lift
provider, we at
IMAGE Management, LLC are aware of the difference between purchasing an
assistive device and developing a back injury program. Please
contact us regarding getting started
with the S.L.i.M. program at your facility.
