DragonDictate® Overview

DragonDictate®
allows you to control Windows applications by voice. It
automatically lets you speak the words on menus, dialog boxes and on-screen
buttons to activate them. With this discrete speech product technology, you can
create business letters, spreadsheets and more without using the keyboard.
What are the circumstances where a dictator might want/need DragonDictate®
instead of the newer NaturallySpeaking®?

If the dictator is unable to speak
"continuously".
DragonDictate® is a discrete speech program -- the
speaker cannot speak at a conversational pace. The dictator must have a
slight pause between each word or command. |

The dictator's PC does not meet the system
requirements for NaturallySpeaking®.
(We have also had reports that DragonDictate™ works on Windows CE machines.
Note, we have not tested and do NOT guarantee this configuration.) |
Important Note
DragonDictate®
was last enhanced in 1997 and officially supports Windows
3.X and Windows 95. The manufacturer no longer provides tech support for
the product. Because DragonDictate®
was last enhanced in 1997, the product has not been tested with or upgraded to
support newer software and/or hardware. Therefore, if you are not using
the supported operating environments, you may have to spend additional setup
time getting your microphone/sound card working, creating commands to navigate
the many applications that have come out since 1997, etc. This type
of customization/setup requires that you have advanced knowledge of your
system/software. It is also possible that you might not be able to get the
software to work on your new PC, so order at your own risk.

DragonDictate®
was originally available in two "editions": Power Edition and Classic
Edition. The manufacturer is only currently making the Power Edition, but
we still have some Classic Edition products, while supplies last. We will
also offer a DragonPro professional vocabulary with the purchase
of a Power Edition while supplies last.
