Overview/Background
As discussed in the system requirements of our
Dragon 10 upgrade page...
To improve the recognition speed, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 was designed
to use SSE2 technology. By adding this new requirement to Dragon
NaturallySpeaking 10, it enabled us to reduce computation time and latency
for fast speakers. SSE2 is supported by almost all processors sold since
2006, but some systems that meet the processor speed requirement do not
support SSE2.
Details on
SSE2 and how it relates to NaturallySpeaking:
Dragon NaturallySpeaking
10 requires that the PC's processor support
SSE2 in order to run properly. It is not possible to
run Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 on a system that does not support
SSE2. If the system does
not support SSE2, the following error is displayed when
attempting to open Dragon NaturallySpeaking:
"A Serious Error occurred
while initializing the NaturallySpeaking speech engine"

Determine if a computer supports SSE2
There are various utilities available to determine if a computer's processor
supports SSE2. The following
CPU-Z utility is available for free and is updated regularly.

What can this utility tell you? |

If you want to save the results of this utility, you have
several options:
 |
The F5 key allows to save a screenshot as a bmp file
in the application directory. These are named cpu.bmp, cache.bmp,
mainboard.bmp and memory.bmp. |

The F6 key copies the current page in the clipboard.
Then you can go to another application and do the "Ctrl+v" key combination
to paste the page. |
|
The F7 key saves the validation cvf file in the
current directory. |
