Do you have or are you considering
the entry point of the NaturallySpeaking product line -- NaturallySpeaking
Standard? Or, are you considering upgrading FROM
NaturallySpeaking Standard?
Our comparison chart above does not
mention the Standard edition. We
start with the big brother product of the Standard edition --
NaturallySpeaking Preferred edition. But if the feature is not in
Preferred, it is definitely not in Standard. So refer to the chart
above for features that ARE NOT in NaturallySpeaking Standard Edition but
ARE in NaturallySpeaking Preferred, NaturallySpeaking Professional,
NaturallySpeaking Medical or NaturallySpeaking Legal editions. Then
look below for a few more key features that
are not in NaturallySpeaking Standard:

Two audio
features: Text-to-Speech and Dictation Playback -- used for proofreading or
just for listening to files. Text-to-Speech, of course, uses a synthetic
voice to read your document, whether you dictated it or not. Dictation
Playback lets you hear the dictator's voice synchronized along with the
already typed/transcribed text.
|
|
Use with
BlueTooth microphones, handheld recorders, pocket PCs and Palm Tungsten - The Standard edition does
not include the methods for bringing in audio from these types of input
devices
|
|
The Standard
edition has no ability to create commands. There are multiple types of
commands and, as you see from the comparison chart, the Preferred edition
has the ability to create the basic text and graphics commands. ** this is
a big feature for day-to-day use. Note from the comparison chart, that
the Professional/Medical/Legal editions are required to create any command
type that is not the basic text and graphics command.

In the Standard
edition, you can't export/import user files, which means that to back up
your user file -- either just for a back-up or to take to another PC, you
must browse to its location each time and copy it.
|
|
The Microsoft
Excel command set is not included in NaturallySpeaking Standard edition.
|
|
In the Standard
Edition, you do not have access to "Smart Formatting" where the user can
change the behavior of a word/phrase.
|
|
The ability to
create an "AutoTranscribe Folder" to place digital dictations from a
handheld device and have them transcribed automatically is not included in
the Standard Edition
