Medamation MD is designed to be simple in appearance and in use, but has very powerful tools just a click or voice command away. Most of the work is done in the 3 main screens: Overview, Demographics & MD Chart. 

Medamation Overview Screen

The Overview screen is the central screen in Medamation MD.  It displays all active patients, their Chief Complaint, the Doctor, Nurse and time the patient was admitted.

All screens have a tool bar across the top with user friendly icons representing important functions, these include: Admit or Discharge a patient, "QuickChart", Setup, Calculator, Patient History, Help and Exit.

Demographics

The Demographics Screen displays key demographic data about the patient – Name, Address, Age, etc.  Below this is the Chief Complaint, Time admitted and other key information.

You can fill in these data fields by typing or using Dragon voice recognition software. You may also use voice commands to navigate from field to field.

MD Chart

The MD Chart screen is the core of the Medamation MD program.  All the important patient medical information is entered & displayed here.  It is divided up into simple-to-use tabs, so you can quickly go to a specific function:

Admit a Patient

Admitting a patient in Medamation MD is very simple.  If the patient has been previously treated, simply select his/her name from the patient list.  All key data will automatically be filled out.  To save scrolling down a long list, type the first couple letters of the patient's last name - the cursor will jump directly to the name.

If you are admitting a new patient, you may fill out the patient info by typing, or by voice using speech recognition software.  Only fields in blue must be filled out.

Multimedia

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

Medamation MD allows you to save digital pictures, as well as other multimedia elements (video, scanned-in graphics, audio) to enhance the patient's documentation. Multimedia brings documentation to a whole new level.  We can now see exact images of things which in the past had to be described in words and then left to (mis)interpretation.  You can document the changes of an injury or illness over time.

Adding multimedia is very simple - just click the blue "+" button and choose the type (picture, video or sound).  All these multimedia elements can be viewed/played within Medamation MD, and the pictures will print out with the chart.  In addition, these multimedia elements can be emailed to other health care professionals for long-distance consultation.

The Printed Chart

The printed chart is one of the most impressive features of Medamation MD.  It's accurate, legible, complete and looks very professional. All this and it takes much less time to create than a hand-written chart!

Printed Discharge Instructions

Medamation MD makes it very simple to create & print discharge instructions.  Some of the key data (name, prescriptions, etc.) is automatically entered. Other information can be easily added, as needed.

Prescriptions

Medamation MD makes it simple & quick to write prescriptions.  These computer-printed prescriptions are much easier to read than handwritten ones, which also saves time & eliminates confusion.  An illegible prescription can result in the wrong medication or dosage.

To write a prescription simply go to the "Treatment" tab of MD Chart, then click the "Prescriptions" drop-down list.  There are over 100 medication listed but you may add more at any time. When a medication chosen it will display standard dosages & intervals.  Change these if needed, then click "Preview Prescription".  If the screen display is correct, click "Print."  It's that quick.

We show a sample printed prescription at right.  It is printed on special blue paper with a security anti-copying watermark -- available from Medamation. We can also program the Rx printout to include your practice or hospital logo, in color.

Speech Recognition

One of the most powerful features of Medamation MD is its tight integration with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the most powerful voice recognition program on the market.   Dragon compatibility was not added as an afterthought -- Medamation MD was designed from the ground up to take full advantage of the powerful features of this program.

You can use speech recognition in two ways:

1. Voice commands
You can use voice commands to navigate around the screens, select buttons, tabs & menu choices, and move between different screens.  This can save time and is helpful if you're holding a chart or X-ray (or coffee cup).

2. Data Entry
This can be a real time saver, especially for those somewhat lacking in their typing skills.  With the proper setup and a little practice you can be entering patient data accurately, as fast as you normally talk. You don't need to speak in a slow, stilted voice - just speak clearly.  The more you use it, the more accurate it gets. Even complicated medical terms and drug names can be entered by voice.  You only have to train the software once to recognize a new word or phrase - it will remember it from then on.

Voice recognition in Medamation MD will help you create charts quickly and accurately.  You don't need to be a speed typist and you don't have to wait days for a transcription service.
