Product Features:
The Philips SpeechMike Premium LFH3500 is a professional-grade USB dictation microphone built for demanding, high-volume dictation environments. It features studio-quality recording technology, an integrated trackball mouse, and native compatibility with leading speech recognition systems — all in an ergonomic, hygienic housing designed for daily professional use.
- Microphone & Recording Quality
- Free-floating, decoupled studio-quality precision microphone — virtually eliminates background, touch, click, and structure-borne noise
- Optimized hexagonal metal grille allows three times more sound to reach the microphone capsule compared to previous-generation models
- Built-in dual-layer pop filter (fleece above and below the capsule) eliminates breath pop and hiss noise
- Uni-directional electret condenser capsule (10 mm) with 200–12,000 Hz frequency response and signal-to-noise ratio greater than 70 dBA
- Playback
- Double-sized built-in speaker (30 mm dynamic speaker, 300–7,500 Hz, >200 mW output) for clear, crisp playback of recordings
- Operation & Controls
- Push-button operation (the LFH3500 model) for recording, stop, play, and rewind
- Ergonomically contoured housing reduces accidental button presses; trigger and command button positioned for natural finger reach
- Four freely configurable function keys for personalized workflow and speech recognition command programming
- Integrated trackball with self-lubricated, abrasion-resistant Teflon bearings — allows full mouse/cursor control while recording, no need to switch to a separate mouse; trackball is removable for cleaning
- Motion Sensor
- Built-in motion sensor automatically mutes the microphone when the device is set down and unmutes when picked up; also supports custom-programmed events (e.g., pause/resume recording)
- Speech Recognition Compatibility
- Native, built-in support for Nuance Dragon (Professional 12.5–15, Legal 12.5–15, Medical Practice Edition 2/3, SDK Client Edition 14), M*Modal Fluency Direct 8.0+, and Fusion Narrate powered by nVoq
- Also compatible with leading hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS), and PACS systems
- Plug-and-play installation — no additional drivers required for supported systems
- Hygiene & Durability
- Hygienic pearl metallic surface inhibits germ colonization and simplifies routine disinfection
- Polished surface resists fingerprints and touch noise
- Firmware is backwards compatible with previous SpeechMike models — no software changes needed when upgrading
- Platform & Environment Compatibility
- Works with Windows 11, Windows 10 (64-bit), and macOS 12/11 (Mac functionality may be limited)
- Supports virtual environments: Citrix, VMware, and Hyper-V
- Configurable via Philips SpeechControl hardware management software (Windows and Mac)
- Are you looking for the Microsoft Nuance PowerMic 4 or its predecessors, the PowerMic III (PowerMic 3) or PowerMic II (PowerMic 2)?
- Microsoft (formerly Nuance) discontinued all microphone sales including these and other Nuance-branded microphones, as of May 7, 2025.
- Microsoft recommended the Philips SpeechMike microphones as replacements for the PowerMic series.
(In fact, the PowerMic 4 was based on the Philips SpeechMike so features/specs such as the form factor, buttons, etc. are exactly the same.)
